Oh my gosh, Addie... what a dream client! Not only is she possibly one of the nicest people I've ever met, but she was such a natural when it came to posing and being comfortable in front of the camera. We started out her senior session at Cannon School where she really wanted some cap & gown photos plus a few around campus. She also happens to be on their rowing team, so once we finished up at Cannon, we went over to Lake Davidson to grab a few shots in the lake and with her rowing gear.
One of the most asked questions I get is what to wear in locations like Camp North End that have a lot of murals, color, and patterns. I think it can get a little overwhelming when trying to pick something that won't clash and give you more variety. While I'll take as much crazy and colorful as you want to give me, most want their senior photos to be timeless. Keep it fun but also not over the top. For this reason, I usually recommend picking something more neutral. And when I say neutral, I don't mean boring and beige. haha I just mean pick one or two main solids so you're able to use whatever background catches your eye. Addie's is perfect in that it's got some color and style but easily transitioned from one area to the next!
If you're wondering why I do these blog posts (besides SEO), it's to make sure potential clients are able to not only see the highlights from a shoot, but to see an entire shoot from start to finish. It would be way easy... a tad misleading... to only show a handful of the best photos from a senior session. It's important to see consistency. What will the photos look like if the sun is harsh? What happens if it's cloudy? What if the location is crowded? What about sunset and nighttime shots... can a photographer handle off camera lighting?
In Addie's case, we had a little bit of all of these. And look how pretty! ;)
