I met Jessica about 5 years ago, a little after I had decided to specialize in high school seniors. I remember hearing that she chose me because she wanted someone different than who everyone else was using. She went to the same school my little sister graduated from, which is how she found me. I remember meeting Jessica at her senior session and loving her energy. She was insanely sweet, absolutely adorable, and so much fun to be around. Well, fast forward to 2020... she is officially a UNC Chapel Hill Graduate!! We originally planned a graduate session in April, but thanks to the pandemic, we had to keep pushing back the date.
Mother's Day weekend, some of the shutdown restrictions were lifted, and we finally were able to get these college grad photos done! We met on Mother's Day at UNC Chapel Hill, which coincidentally was supposed to be her actual graduation day. I wanted to give Jessica and her mom the biggest hugs. It's crazy how much life happens in a handful of years. Jessica had clearly grown up. She was still so sweet and so cute, but she was absolutely an adult now.
Before her graduate session, I had asked her to map out key places she really wanted included. We started at the obvious He's Not Here with their iconic Chapel Hill mural. From there, we ventured to the main campus and grabbed shots at key places including the Old Well, UNC Seal, the Nursing building, and the clock tower.
UNC Chapel Hill happens to be number one in Nursing, and since that's Jessica's major, we made sure to document that well. She was actually in the process of moving back to Charlotte that weekend, so that she could begin her new role at Levine's Children's Hospital.
One of the biggest honors of being a senior photographer is watching these clients of mine grow up, find their calling, and take on life. I absolutely loved being Jessica's high school and college senior photographer. It's impossible not to smile while being around her. She's such a warm, caring person, and I know she's going to impact so many little lives in her next phase of life. Congrats Jessica!
