Some weeks during peak senior season, I'm out shooting for several days in a row. Spring is definitely my busiest time of year, and it can be tough fitting everyone in. The day after Abbie's cap & gown mini session, I switched gears a bit and headed to a huge open field for an amazing senior photoshoot with Ella.
Ella is a self-proclaimed country girl. Born and raised in the farmland of SC, she is eager to escape the suburbs and get back to wide open spaces. I loved hearing about her childhood on the farm, and I wanted to make sure we caught that love of hers in a modern and beautiful way. We started her in a super pretty long dress and cowgirl hat, perfect for fields, and it gave off a bit of a country boho kind of vibe. She also brought her sweetheart pup Roman.
I cannot stress enough how just adding an accessory as simple as a hat can take a regular outfit to photoshoot worthy. And can we just talk about that hair? Seriously the hair was HAIRing that day. Ella was honestly one of those that surprised me. During her consultation, she showed up in jeans, flannel, and sneakers, and she described herself as not a girly girl. I was absolutely ready to pose her in less feminine positions so that she would be comfortable and feel more like herself. Turns out, she blew me away with her natural modeling skills!! I swear y'all, I would put her in a basic pose, and she would give me a slightly different look with each click of my shutter. It was a total dream for a me. haha
Most of my seniors are familiar with me making them walk to get some awesome shots. It can sometimes be tricky as it's easy to feel self-conscious and worry you look stupid. Ella? OMG. That girl ATE. Not one nervous bone in her body. She's a great example of how to get lots of poses in a very simple location spot.
We ended up getting the most gorgeous sunset, which was such a perfect way to give her a pop of color to go with her neutral look.
I absolutely loved my time with Ella. She's so cool and fun and down to earth. I hope she finds her way back to the country where her heart is happiest.
