From the moment I met Ava, I knew her senior session was going to be an adventure. Lol This girl is funny, tough, and a little bit of an adrenaline junkie. She knew she wanted a waterfall for her senior photos, so I showed her a few options. And of course no way were we not going to climb a mountain before jumping in the water! haha We landed on Hanging Rock (which isn't too difficult of a climb unless you're my assistant that has to carry all my gear uphill for two hours hahaha).
We would occasionally stop on the way up to grab some photos in various pretty areas. I'm honestly glad we chose a location that was mostly away from crowds, because Ava was feeling pretty nervous about people watching her. Once we got to the top, the nerves had subsided, but it was important to give her time to feel comfortable.
Now look, I'm not gonna lie... I'm not a big fan of heights. So I was trying to squash an inner panic attack as Ava climbed out on that cliff and looked down like "whoa! That's cool!" Lol I'm so thankful her mom was right there and knew I didn't encourage her to stand on the edge. I found another spot that made me feel less queasy and also had a fantastic view of the NC mountains!
After hiking up a huge mountain, we were more than ready to cool off! We hiked back down to the Lower Cascade Falls, which was absolutely gorgeous. And based on the images alone, you'd have no idea there were a bunch of people there when we first started shooting. ;) Eventually they all scattered off and let us take over the waterfall area.
Y'all I'm not gonna lie... even though we were hot from hiking, this water was still C-O-L-D. Like y'all should go see some of the behind the scenes on my instagram, bc there's a good one of Ava screaming in the water. hahaha
