When Baylee applied to be a Wildflower Senior Model, I instantly fell in love with her. Seriously, the girl is the perfect blend of sunshine and sass. I remember our first meeting and legit begging her mom to let her be on our team. I knew she'd be the perfect fit. Baylee is a leader. She is usually the first to respond to team texts, offer to bring appetizers to our next thing, and suggest fun ideas for our model team events. But she's also down to earth, realistic, and very much in tune with herself. She knows who she is, what she wants, and isn't afraid to go after her dreams. THAT is the kind of girl that's perfect for my Wildflower Model Team. So when it came time for Baylee's senior session, I knew I needed to somehow capture all of that... her confident and warm personality needed to shine.
Baylee requested a couple of shots in my studio. She had seen a few images I'd taken of a past senior in front of my ring light and loved it. So we started out at my Huntersville location, then headed to Davidson for the rest. She also had asked for a natural setting for her senior session; a location with a field and a bit of a rustic vibe. I knew the perfect place. I love shooting at this field in Davidson, and if you follow along, you'll notice I bring clients here pretty often. But the wonderful thing about this place is that each session remains its own. No two are alike, even when they're shot in the exact same spots.
I adored this pink color on her. And Norelle Baker of Makeup by Norelle B did such a great job of complimenting her look with all of her outfits, but especially this one. It was bright and bold and beautiful. Everything that describes Baylee. Afterwards, she changed into an adorable casual look. I recommend all of my seniors bring different outfit options, but bringing a pair of jeans or pants will help give you a few more posing options than if you just stick with dresses.
Baylee's mom also joined us for the field part of the session. She's so nice, and she was able to help me get some cute natural expressions from Baylee. As far as my other seniors go, I do get asked often if mom should come along. It honestly depends on the senior! If you feel having your mom there would be a lot of fun and help ease any butterflies, then by all means, include her! But sometimes having a family member that you're that close to can add to the stress level and make it hard to relax and focus. It really does depend on your individual mother/daughter (or son) relationship. Remember, the ultimate goal is for me to be able to create some beautiful images to document this time and who you are. Whatever helps encourage you to be you during your experience is my ultimate answer. ;)
After the sun went down, I had one more idea in mind for Baylee. I had been dying to photograph one of my seniors at Target for a while now, and because of Baylee's fun personality, I knew she was perfect for this. We had such a good time! She didn't care what others were thinking and even bragged to a store clerk that this was her senior portrait session. haha. While I had a few shots in mind that I wanted, I honestly knew if I took Baylee to Target, I could let her just goof off and do her thing, and we'd get some awesome photos.
I'm so glad Baylee joined the Wildflower Model Team! It's been such an honor to have her be a part of it!
