I think one of the biggest misconceptions about my job is that every senior I get seems to be magically photogenic and comfortable in front of the camera. Which couldn't be further from the truth. Y'all they're the most typical teens you'd ever meet which means that every single one of them feels a little nervous or self-conscious about getting their photos taken. Tori was just like this. In fact, she didn't even want to do senior photos (and she wouldn't be my first like that!). Just take a look at the initial contact message I got from her mom:
"I've been trying desperately for the past several months for Tori to have senior photos taken and she didn't have any interest. I showed Tori your website last night and she LOVED all your seniors photos and agreed to have them taken if you have availability... Your photos are beautiful and exactly what Tori is looking for.....I wish I found your site months ago!"
Tori really wanted a city feel as part of her shoot, so we went to uptown. Her outfits for this were so so perfect! The dresses worked well with the overall feel of uptown Charlotte as it has more of a sophisticated, upscale kind of vibe, while the jeans and black top were perfect for the more casual spots like murals and artwork.
And of course we made time for a couple cap & gown photos. ;)
Originally Tori was thinking something like a field for her second location. But definitely something more nature-ish. When she saw some past water portraits I'd taken, she instantly loved that idea! So we went with that! She wore the most amazing red dress that really popped against the water and sunset.
I'm SO glad Tori decided to go for senior photos... they're always worth doing if done right! And I think she and her mom agreed: "I saw an inner spark in Tori last night that I haven’t seen in years. And I am so grateful that you brought that out in Tori with your wonderful photography."
