For a few years now, I've been dying to get my hands on some gorgeous, flowy, insanely elaborate couture gowns for a shoot. After scouring the internet, I found a designer in Europe that sent the most beautiful dresses. We decided to do a little road trip to the mountains, which made it even more fun. Unfortunately due to work schedules and sickness, only three of my girls were able to join, but we still had a blast and got a ton of amazing images.
I chose Moses Cone Manor, since the grounds are so pretty and the house was the perfect backdrop to compliment the gowns.
So a couple things you should probably know:
- Bathrooms are closed in the off season. Doesn't matter that it's a public park. This was a SUPER FUN surprise after a 2 hour car ride. Most of us held it. A couple did not. I will not name names.
- It was FREEZING. Even though this was April, the temps were cold and that wind just about gave us frostbite. The fact that these girls look so comfortable and relaxed is photographer magic.
- "Look! I'm a loofah!"
- There was a lot of strategic posing. This is why you hire an experienced photographer, because otherwise you might have a stressed out photog and/or a wardrobe malfunction. Lol
- These girls were troopers. Like other than (very understandably) complaining about being cold, they were still laughing, goofing off, and having a good time with it.
- Mellow Mushroom is great post-shoot food.
While the house is stunning and compliments the couture gowns perfectly, one of my favorite parts of the area is the stone bridge. It's so pretty and a great spot to get a little variety without having to go too far.
I told the girls to bring an extra outfit in case we had some extra time. I also brought a few things from the Wildflower Style Closet if they wanted to borrow from that. Libby chose to model one of my dresses before changing into her Anthropologie dress. Sierra modeled one of my favorite style closet dresses and hat. Gracyn brought the cutest dresses herself. That blue is always such a great color on her!
This was actually our last big team shoot other than caps & gowns. I'm going to miss these girls so so much next year. They effortlessly went from being my clients to being my friends. This next team has some serious shoes to fill! Want some behind the scenes?
